The Oscars 2008

Deze nacht zijn voor de 80ste keer de Academy Awards uitgereikt in Los Angeles. Er zaten bijzonder weinig verrassingen tussen de winnaars. Grote favoriet, No Country For Old Men, kaapte maar liefst 4 Oscars weg. Het postmoderne meesterwerk van de Coens ging aan de haal met de Oscars voor Beste Film, Beste Regie, Beste Scenario en Beste Mannelijke bijrol (de sublieme Javier Bardem). Zoals verwacht kreeg Daniel Day-Lewis het felbegeerde gouden beeldje voor zijn imposante hoofdrol in There Will Be Blood. Beste animatiefilm werd terecht Ratatouille. The Bourne Ultimatum won in een aantal eerder technische categorieën zoals sound mixing, sound editing en film editing.
