Eind 2014 kregen we een schitterende Keanu Reeves te zien als John Wick, een instant klassieker die vliegensvlug in onze lijsten van top 10 films van het jaar 2014 terecht kwamen. De film deed het internationaal aardig aan de box office met 78 miljoen dollar opbrengst en de makers krijgen een 2de kans om het verhaal voort te zetten. Movies.com bevestigt dat de regisseurs Chad Stahelski & David Leitch bezig zijn aan een ideeën voor een vervolgverhaal, maar het is nog niet zeker of Keanu Reeves zal terugkomen. Hierbij een quote:

“We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original. It’s the matter of story and how much you like the character. That’s always the most important. If there’s great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn’t have charisma you’re not going to watch it. Look at any great action star, whether it’s Harrison Ford or Liam Neeson or Robert Downey Jr., pick a name, you love the guy first. Good action, bad action, you just love them in action. So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we’ll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome.”

Alle lof voor Keanu Reeves dus dit zou hem toch moeten aanzetten om het project verder te zetten. Wat denken jullie? John Wick is vanaf 23 maart op Blu-Ray te verkrijgen.

UPDATE (4 mei 2015): Lionsgate heeft officieel bevestigd dat Keanu Reeves in een vervolgfilm van John Wick zal spelen.
